- arrive Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam), free
shuttle bus to Hotel. A4, Toecan Hotel.
Tuesday 22nd April - Morning
trip to Aalsmeer, the world’s largest flower auction,
then to Zaanse Schans, a historic village. Lunch at Volendam,
a former fishing harbour on Souther See. In the afternoon, visit
Hortus Bulborum, home to a gene bank and large collection of
historic bulbs. Dinner on an Amsterdam canal boat.
Wednesday 23rd April
- To Northern Holland’s bulb growing area. Visit
the Karel Van der Veek garden where Carlos will be the guide
for his spectacular collection of daffodils. Then either go
to Arno Kroon’s trial garden for growers and exporters
or visit an exporter. Lunch courtesy of Jan Pennings and family
and in the afternoon a view of their bulb fields. Dinner this
evening is at Schagen in a rebuilt castle.
Thursday
24th April - a trip to the Lisse bulb district. There
is the opportunity to visit daffodil breeder Mr. Leenen, miniature
grower Mr. Hein Meeuwissen and tulip breeder Eric Breed. The
whole afternoon will be dedicated to the Keukenhof. There will
be a chance to see a daffodil show and flower arrangement judging.
The farewell dinner will be in the Keukenhof and the guest speaker
will be the Chairman of the Dutch Growers’ Association.
Registration:
€650.00 (Euro), approx., includes hotels transport,
lunches and dinners. Register by 01 September 2007 on
main form but do not send fee. The Dutch organisers will send
out an invoice when they receive your name and address.
